Lara Nasser’s (b. Sacramento, CA, 1991) provocative works, rendered in rich oils and saturated hues, seduce viewers with supple anatomy. Nasser’s paintings offer multiple alternate universes occurring in real time as channels on a screen. Her art is the intellectual approach to pure hedonism, which speaks to the political and cultural situation in Nasser’s native Beirut as well as her everyday surroundings of Brooklyn and Athens where she is currently based between. Born in 1991 in California, Nasser lives and works in New York. Nasser moved to Beirut in her early childhood, experiencing a dramatic shift in socio political norms. She studied Fine Arts and Psychology at the American University of Beirut, and had her first solo show in Beirut soon after. Nasser completed her MFA in 2013 at the Pratt Institute.
