Gala Knörr’s Study of a Young Cowboy is part of the series ‘The Seekers’ - a project inspired by the rodeo culture and Far West aesthetics, that explores the history of the Black Cowboy historical figures and the Basque Shepherd. The series challenges the misrepresentation throughout the twentieth century Hollywood productions and Spaghetti Westerns filmed in Italy and Spain, which were also often used as radical cultural tools to embed messages critiquing political regimes and governments of the era they were made in.
